A dropdown for picking one option — country fields, sort orders, theme settings — with thick neobrutalist borders and hard shadows.

The select opens a popup list of options and shows the chosen one in its trigger — a styled, form-ready replacement for the native <select>. Built on the Base UI Select component and styled to the neobrutalist recipe: thick borders, hard shadows, and bold type.

Reach for it when:

  • Form fields with fixed choices — country, currency, timezone; anywhere you'd otherwise use a native <select>.
  • Sort and filter controls — order a product grid or table by price, date, or popularity.
  • Preference pickers — theme, language, or notification frequency in a settings panel.

Examples

Align Item With Trigger

Use alignItemWithTrigger on SelectContent to control whether the selected item aligns with the trigger. When true (default), the popup positions so the selected item appears over the trigger. When false, the popup aligns to the trigger edge.

Accessibility

The select implements the WAI-ARIA Combobox pattern in its select-only form: the trigger is announced as a collapsed combobox with aria-expanded, the popup renders as a listbox of option items, and aria-selected tracks the current value — all wired by the primitive.
