- File and row actions — rename, duplicate, delete on file-manager entries or table rows without cluttering every row with buttons.
- Canvas surfaces — whiteboards, design tools, and editors where the available actions depend on what was clicked.
- Data grids — per-cell operations like copy value, filter by, or pin column, close to the data they act on.

The context menu follows the WAI-ARIA Menu pattern: the popup renders role="menu" with menuitem, menuitemcheckbox, and menuitemradio children, focus moves into the menu when it opens and returns to the trigger area when it closes. It opens from the browser's contextmenu event, so Shift + F10 (or the dedicated menu key) works whenever the trigger area is focusable — add tabIndex={0} to the trigger's child if it isn't natively.
