Drawer
A gesture-driven sheet that slides in from any edge for mobile menus, filters, and quick forms — with neobrutalist borders and shadows.
"use client"
import * as React from "react"The drawer is a panel that slides in from an edge of the screen and can be dragged shut. Built on Vaul by Emil Kowalski and styled to the neobrutalist recipe: thick borders, hard shadows, and bold type.
Reach for it when:
- Mobile action sheets — share menus, sort options, quick confirmations. The drag-to-dismiss gesture beats hunting for a tiny close button on touch.
- Filters and settings panels — e-commerce filters or preferences that need more room than a popover but don't warrant a page.
- Responsive dialogs — pair it with
Dialogto render a modal on desktop and a drawer on mobile (see the example below).

Usage#
import {
Drawer,
DrawerClose,
DrawerContent,
DrawerDescription,
DrawerFooter,
DrawerHeader,
DrawerTitle,
DrawerTrigger,
} from "@/components/ui/drawer"<Drawer>
<DrawerTrigger>Open</DrawerTrigger>
<DrawerContent>
<DrawerHeader>
<DrawerTitle>Are you absolutely sure?</DrawerTitle>
<DrawerDescription>This action cannot be undone.</DrawerDescription>
</DrawerHeader>
<DrawerFooter>
<Button>Submit</Button>
<DrawerClose>
<Button variant="outline">Cancel</Button>
</DrawerClose>
</DrawerFooter>
</DrawerContent>
</Drawer>Composition#
Use the following composition to build a Drawer:
Drawer
├── DrawerTrigger
└── DrawerContent
├── DrawerHeader
│ ├── DrawerTitle
│ └── DrawerDescription
└── DrawerFooterExamples#
Scrollable Content#
Keep actions visible while the content scrolls.
import { Button } from "@/components/ui/button"
import {
Drawer,Sides#
Use the direction prop to set the side of the drawer. Available options are top, right, bottom, and left.
import { Button } from "@/components/ui/button"
import {
Drawer,Responsive Dialog#
You can combine the Dialog and Drawer components to create a responsive dialog. This renders a Dialog component on desktop and a Drawer on mobile.
"use client"
import * as React from "react"RTL#
To enable RTL support in Neobrutalism.com, see the RTL configuration guide.
"use client"
import * as React from "react"Accessibility#
The drawer follows the WAI-ARIA Dialog (Modal) pattern: Vaul builds on the Radix Dialog primitive, so the panel renders with role="dialog" and aria-modal, traps focus while open, and is labelled by DrawerTitle and described by DrawerDescription. Dragging to dismiss is pointer-only — keyboard users close with Escape or a DrawerClose button, so always include one.
Keyboard interactions:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
Space / Enter | Open the drawer from the focused trigger |
Tab / Shift + Tab | Cycle focus through the drawer's contents (focus is trapped) |
Escape | Close the drawer and return focus to the trigger |
