Command

A keyboard-driven command palette for ⌘K menus, global search, and quick actions — with the neobrutalist borders-and-shadows treatment.

The command component is a composable command palette: an input that filters a grouped list of actions as you type, with a CommandDialog wrapper for the ⌘K use case. Built on cmdk and styled to the neobrutalist recipe: thick borders, hard shadows, and bold type.

Reach for it when:

  • ⌘K palettes — a CommandDialog on a global shortcut for app-wide navigation and actions.
  • Docs and app search — filter pages, records, or settings as the user types, grouped by category.
  • Pickers with many options — assignees, labels, emoji: anywhere a plain select gets unwieldy.

Accessibility

The command menu follows the WAI-ARIA Combobox pattern: cmdk renders the input as a combobox linked to a listbox of options via aria-controls and aria-activedescendant, so DOM focus stays in the input while screen readers announce the highlighted item. CommandDialog layers modal dialog semantics on top.
